What can you see by night during an electricity failure? You will be surprised! Pork chops in your refrigerator and even a candy chewed with your teeth may glow. On the walls, you will see glowing escape route signs. Clock faces and the screen of your television will glow too. The phenomenon usually goes unnoticed but if you think about it deeper, it will amaze you! The Sun and bulbs emit light and it is absolutely normal – but so do sugar, paint or some liquids! At our stand, we will try to explain why and how it is possible!
Students of chemistry, biotechnology and microbiology from Student’s Research Centres , University of Łódź and passionate researchers from the Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences, Łódź invite everyone to visit their joint stand at the 6th Łódź Design Festival. The Luminescence around us exhibition will be one of the events in the Festival agenda.
In addition, on 21-21 October and 26-28 October, interesting and amazing experiments will be shown to demonstrate the possibilities of creating light with chemical methods. Chemical reactions will be presented, in which substances emit light. During the first Festival weekend, presentations prepared by the Chemistry Students’ Research Centre will be shown. In the following weekend, researchers from the Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences will take the floor. The shows will be held from 10:00 to 18:00 in the special dark room. The Bio-Mik Students’ Research Centre will display glowing bacteria.
WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE YOU!
