After a busy day at the Festival, you may relax at the DOM club within OFF Piotrkowska – a unique space thriving with life and energy of Łódź.

Our hosts will include NOVIKA and Mr. Lex – members of the Beats Friendly collective. They have been active on the clubbing scene for years. Their eclectic and open-minded performance style always attracts people to the dancing floor.

Their output include two parts of the “Friendly Beats” compilation.  They performed at major festivals in Poland (Open’er, Audioriver, Tauron Nowa Muzyka, No Border), and they regularly appear at the most interesting clubs.

Novika debuted as a vocalist with the Futro band. Then she recorded with Smolik and worked with many producers. Her two most recent appearances are “Stay Close” (Mobilee) recorded with Marcin Czubala and “This Time” released by the renowned German producer Lovebirds (Toolroom). She published also two solo albums and an album with remixes. She is twice winner of the Fryderyk Award.

Novika and Lex are the hosts of the Miastosfera programme on Radio ROXY. Earlier, the duo could be listened to on Radio Jazz and Radio Bis (now “Czwórka”). As the host of the Przelot programme on ROXY, Lex presents mixes sent by DJs from across Poland.

20.10.2012, Saturday // SPINKA, 90 Piotrkowska Street // 22.00

22.00 KAMP! (DJ SET)

If you feel like going crazy on a dance floor and listen to the music that inspires KAMP! you mustn’t miss the party at SPINKA on the Saturday evening!

KAMP! are truly unique on the Polish scene. Their first album is one of the most expected Polish records in recent years. There is no exaggeration in calling them the best electronic music band. “Breaking A Ghost’s Heart”, “Heats”, “Distance Of The Modern Hearts”, are only a few examples of their repertoire and outcome released under their own netlabel Brennnessel. Their last year’s single – “Cairo” – was released by Discotexas, a Portuguese record label. Then they contributed in two more records for the label, including a remix for Appaloosa. New interpretations for other artists are an important part of the music activity of KAMP!. Their most recent resounding successes are two productions for Polish performers – a folk duo Twilite and Brodka. The latter performer decided that “Dancing Shoes” remixed by the boys from KAMP! will be used as the single promoting her EP entitled “LAX”.

KAMP! are just finishing work on their first album and they will be definitely responsible for a new opening on the Polish music scene that must accept the fact that electronic music is not just DJs anymore but also great live acts and rock’n’roll popularity. The album will be released later this year!

Although Tomek, Michał i Radek used to say – just to leave them alone – that their music was classic tech-dubs, after the first contact with KAMP it is perfectly clear that there are much more inspirations in it: Bowie, French house, Swedish electronics in the style of Studio or The Field, dreampop Beach House and Wild Nothing, or the most obvious love for the output of DFA Records.

BAND MEMBRS// Radek Krzyżanowski: keyboard, guitar, beat, production // Michał Słodowy: beat, drums // Tomasz Szpaderski: vocal, keyboard, guitar

27.10.2012, Saturday // DOM, OFF Piotrkowska, 138/140 Piotrkowska Street, 22.00

Just after Pecha Kucha Night vol.9 another party will be held at DOM. DJ Kuki Monstah and Ojciec Karol will take care of the great atmosphere during the evening.

Kuki Monstah a.k.a. Jazzteczkowy Potwór – a host of several cyclical events in funk/soul/jazz and related styles. Kuki is first of all known for parties at Piano Cafe (ancient history already), Soul Confectionery and Jazztko at Jazztka and some other series of dancing parties. With his chest, he travelled across Poland and sometimes also abroad. Kuki brought to Łódź for example Peter Isaac from Jelly Jazz [UK], Makala from Global Funk Crew [Basque Country], Nik Weston [UK], 6ix Toys [UK], Marc Hype & Jim Dunloop [Germany], Mop Mop [Italy], Dusty/Jazz and Milk [Germany] and the majority of Polish DJs associated with music genres matching the style of Soul Confectionery and Jazztka.

Among the most buoyant funky collectives in Poland, Break Da Funk is definitely in the Top Three. The key members of the crew are DJs – Ojciec Karol, Benito and Spike – but the group comprises also producers, musicians, graffiti painters, b-boys… Last year, the collective released a 7-inch analogue record “Tajniak” (Undercover Agent). The record launch event was held at the 55 Club in Warsaw.

Break Da Funk is the host of a weekly programme on Radio Kampus 97.1 FM. He organised also a series of events under the same name in one of the Warsaw’s biggest clubs (55 Club at the Palace of Culture) attended by tens of Polish and international artists including 6ix Toys, Nostalgia 77, dj Format , Boca 45, dj Marc Hype & Jim Dunloop , Natural Self , The Broken Keys and many more.

Ojciec Karol together with Papa Zura [Soulservice] forms the The Fathers band and is a scratcher in Bassgrou. He scratched also for Marikia and Letko. Most of you probably remember the Sepukultura mix played for example during the SOLID STEEL programme by the iconic NINJA TUNE music label.

Admission only with a multi-entrance ticket available for purchase at the Festival Centre, 35 Targowa Street, during exhibition opening hours.

Looking forward to see you!
